The aims are to set objectives for benchmarking and performance
measurement, secure the support of senior management and other
stakeholders, and develop a benchmarking strategy.
It may apply to a single client or a group of organisations
that has already decided to form a benchmarking club.
Activities will include:

a
presentation to senior managers to explain how benchmarking
fits in to the strategic planning/continuous improvement process

discussion
with management and staff to agree priory areas for improvement

agree
with senior management how to communicate the planned benchmarking
work to the staff, clients and suppliers it affects

workshops
with staff, clients and suppliers to determine key measures
in the agreed priority areas and demonstrate the capabilities
of the software

agree
key roles and responsibilities for the planned benchmarking
initiative

agree
the stages that are required, how they will be delivered and
a program against which progress can be monitored.

schedule
all the required activities, actions and key dates, so all
parties involved have a firm understanding of what is required
of who and by when.
